People choose Invisalign as an orthodontic treatment option for enhanced comfort and convenience, as well as remarkable results in straightening crooked teeth. Invisalign provided at SV Orthodontics in Toronto, Ontario, is a significant investment in the future of your smile. Like any other dental procedure, you play a key role in the success of your Invisalign treatment. Â
The following tips from Drs. Raman Samra and Elise Vincelette can help you get the most from Invisalign:Â
Start by choosing the right orthodontist for your treatment—someone with years of experience with the Invisalign system. In Toronto, ON, Drs. Samra and Vincelette fit the bill! We’ll work closely with you to plan, execute, and monitor your treatment to help you achieve your goal of a great smile.
Invisalign treatment is personalized for each patient to achieve the desired results. Using 3D imaging, we’ll plan the movements of your teeth and show you how your smile will appear when your treatment is complete. Your part is to wear the aligners 22 hours a day throughout your treatment and switch to new aligners when scheduled. The aligners will slowly and methodically realign your teeth.
The aligners will initially cause slight tooth discomfort, exerting pressure on your teeth. This is normal. Continue wearing your aligners as instructed. Over time, you’ll become accustomed to their use.
Invisalign aligners are removable for a reason—so you can eat comfortably and maintain good oral hygiene. So always remove the aligners when eating and drinking anything but water. Removing the aligners for oral hygiene makes keeping your teeth healthy and clean much easier.
Good aligner care will ensure your aligners work properly throughout your treatment. To clean the aligners, we recommend using denture tablets or hand/dish soap with a toothbrush. When removed, always store the aligners in their case to avoid losing them or accidentally damaging them.
Brushing and flossing is easy with Invisalign, so do your part to keep your teeth clean! You should brush (or at the minimum rinse out your mouth) after every meal to avoid getting food trapped between your aligners and teeth. This can lead to plaque buildup and the risk of cavities. Getting cavities can delay the completion of your treatment.
You will schedule appointments every 4 to 6 weeks to check your progress at our office. Keep these appointments religiously! Follow-up visits allow us to fix any problems that may arise or adjust your treatment, if needed, to optimize your results.
